Brothers Empowered 2 Teach

OUR MISSION

Brothers Empowered to Teach’s (BE2T) mission is to recruit & mentor men of color into classroom-based careers in order to generate a pipeline of incredible teachers who mirror success for their students.

BE2T Fellowship

BE2T innovates on teacher recruitment by starting early in college to expose them to education careers in discreet intervals via three components. Specifically tailored for full-time college students, participants are eligible to begin sophomore year for a 3-year fellowship. The undergraduate fellowship is intentionally designed with schedule flexibility to attract upperclassmen that are actively looking for opportunities in the classroom as well. Features include a paid work study to tutor afterschool children, personal and professional development through our “Cipher” workshop series and one-on-one pairing with a veteran male educator for support in and out of the classroom. Stipends are tiered. Year 1 participants receive $2,500; Year 2 - $3000 and Year 3 - $3500. Students who successfully complete the program will receive up to $2,000 toward teacher certification.
