Our Organization

The beginning of a narrative change

“Young black men are perpetually trying to figure out who they are supposed to be, because the representations in our neighborhoods and schools are, a lot of the time, negative , showing high rates of incarceration, unemployment and little to education”

- Larry Irvin

Founders Larry Irvin and Kristyna Jones developed a solution:

Getting more black men into the classroom.

Our Story

With 7 fellows

and a desire to bring something new to education in 2014,

BE2T has grown to 60 fellows, a full staff and 2 cohort locations in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

 We are living the dream.

We believe with hard work and perseverance, the sky's the limit!
